Jessica Thurston LCSW
Director of Clinical Services
Jessica Thurston joined the team at Cumberland Hall in May of 2016. Originally from Tomkins Cove, New York, she holds Bachelors in Human Development and Women’s Studies from State University of New York at Oswego and a Master of Social Work degree from Syracuse University.
Before coming to Cumberland Hall, Thurston was a consultant for the Department of Children’s Services in Tennessee, an emergency room social worker at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and has provided individual therapy services to active-duty Service Members at the embedded behavioral health clinic.
Thurston is passionate about the rehabilitation and healing process from trauma. As the director of clinical services, she enjoys getting to wear many hats as she interacts with patients through individual therapy, group and family sessions. She also finds mentoring and providing development to the staff of professionals entering the field particularly rewarding.
She and her husband have three dogs. When she’s not working at Cumberland Hall, Thurston is the director of a nonprofit animal rescue group and spends her time at pet adoption events, volunteering at animal control shelters and fostering rescue dogs in her home.
